April 8, 2026Very friendly and chill staff helped try to squeeze in a large party unannounced. We ended up taking the outdoor seating, which was valiantly heat-lamped but still chilly due to the high winds. We were first-timers with out-of-town guests, so I resisted the urge to be original and tried the honey butter pancakes, which were great. The other stuff I tasted (kim chee side and a simple side salad) we're also strong. Drink (yuzi palmer) was an 8/10, very solid and well conceived. Super friendly place. I am eager to come back at a more normal brunch hour and order something more typical for me - the breakfast burrito looked good - and enjoy it more as a normal diner than as a tourist attraction. But so far, I'd enthusiastically recommend this place.

April 7, 2026The pancakes were mediocre, and I don’t understand the hype surrounding this place.

April 6, 2026We were told waiting time was 3-4 hours and that they would text 10 minutes before. Then they texted an hour latter and cancelled our reservation.
Weird system, also cause they had 4 free tables when we added ourselves to the list.

April 6, 2026I finally made it to Golden Diner after years of hearing the hype and reading rave reviews.
If you can get through the wait, it’s a great spot—but personally, I’m not sure it’s worth a 3–4 hour line.
The food was mostly good, with some real highlights, though not everything lived up to the hype.
What stood out:
• The pancake — light, airy, and rich with a slightly salty brown butter (with subtle citrus notes). Definitely shareable and perfect with a good cup of tea
• The tater tots — incredibly crunchy and easily one of the best sides on the menu
• The egg sandwich with sausage — very flavorful, with a nice sage-forward profile
What I’d skip:
• The Korean fried chicken wings — too sweet and lacking crunch
• The katsu chicken sandwich — visually beautiful, but not particularly memorable
The egg sandwich comes with a hash brown inside, which for me made it a bit too oily—something I’d probably skip or customize next time.
We didn’t order the burger, but it looked and smelled amazing—and judging by the table next to us, it might be one of the best things to try.
The lemonade was also on the sweeter side; with a bit less sugar, it would be much better.
Overall:
Definitely one of the better diners I’ve been to (with the caveat that I haven’t explored that many), and I would absolutely go back—if the wait is reasonable. Next time, I’d go early, order the burger, tater tots, and maybe an egg sandwich (without the hash brown), and call it a perfect diner moment.
Great spot—but maybe not worth the extreme wait.

April 5, 2026Lived up to it's viral hype. As someone who prefers waffles to pancakes, this beats 99% of waffles. The texture, flavor, look, managed to somehow venture into the territory of cake while remaining faithfully a pancake. The crispy home fries which are hash browns were perfectly cooked, right amount of crispy outside, delicious flavor on the inside without tasting greasy. Burger was solid.

April 5, 2026Dear POC’s, and others who aren’t of European decent.
I will start by saying this. I’ve been to many restaurants and the inconsistencies are too consistent to just be a coincidence.
This restaurant will make you wait longer than usual if you’re like me (you will know, and feel it), and won’t come to your table to double check if you’ve been served or taken care of until AFTER they’ve served theirs.
Furthermore, they will intentionally, “accidentally”, overlook you and proceed to place blame on the waiter for having “bad vision”. Then they’ll follow up with the usual damage control tactic of offering a free..(whatever, you know it’s never worth it).
The entire time my 6th sense was telling me “something is off, I should leave. This feels weird.” But I chose to stay for the experience. Ultimately I should’ve followed my gut. The food wasn’t that special (if you can cook, you’ll know what I mean), the service was distasteful to say the least, and I’m positive our people can make better pancakes at home.
