I’ve been to Juliana’s on Old Fulton Street quite a few times over the years, and I’ll say it loudly for the tourists waiting in the massive line next door: this is, without question, the best pizza in all of New York. There is a specific science to what Patsy Grimaldi does with that coal-fired oven that simply cannot be replicated anywhere else in the five boroughs.
The crust is the star of the show, perfectly thin, with that signature char and a crispness that holds up even under a mountain of fresh toppings. I always go for the classic Margherita with pepperoni; the way the fresh mozzarella melts into the slightly sweet tomato sauce is absolute perfection. It’s the kind of meal that makes you understand why people get so protective over NY pizza culture.
The atmosphere inside is classic Brooklyn, bustling, warm, and smelling like toasted flour and garlic. Even when the wait is long, the staff handles the rush with that professional New York grit. It’s my absolute go-to whenever I’m in DUMBO, and every single bite reminds me why I keep coming back. It’s not just a meal; it’s a masterclass in tradition.
